By: Montford S.R. No. 667 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Martha M. Magness 1-5 WHEREAS, The citizens of Lubbock mourned the passing of 1-6 one of the city's esteemed residents, Martha M. Magness, who 1-7 died March 17, 1995; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother who provided a loving 1-9 home for her family, Martha Magness was a warm and charitable 1-10 individual who will be remembered for her contributions to the 1-11 citizens of her community; and 1-12 WHEREAS, She was born in Commerce, Texas, and had lived 1-13 in Lubbock for a number of years where she was active in civic 1-14 affairs; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mrs. Magness volunteered her time and energies to 1-16 the March of Dimes and the Junior League and was a member of the 1-17 Lubbock Club; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who lived her faith in her daily 1-19 life, Martha Magness attended the First United Methodist Church 1-20 and was a member of the Questers Sunday School Class; and 1-21 WHEREAS, She leaves a legacy of compassion and commitment 1-22 that will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and all 1-23 those who were fortunate to know her; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-3 family of Martha M. Magness: her daughters, Julee Magness and 2-4 Martha Schlottman; her sister, Frieda M.
