    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join the
    1-3  citizens of Galveston and the surrounding communities in recognizing
    1-4  June 9 through 11 as Bay Day 1995; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Galveston Bay is an area of charm and natural beauty
    1-6  and has long been a popular vacation spot for citizens from all
    1-7  parts of the state; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The annual Bay Day Festival is held at Sylvan Beach
    1-9  in La Porte and is an opportunity for the public to celebrate the
   1-10  bay and its value to each of the area citizens; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Galveston Bay is a natural resource of tremendous
   1-12  value and provides important commercial, recreational, and ecological
   1-13  benefits to citizens of the State of Texas; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Bay Day will showcase the multiple uses and the
   1-15  cultural, historical, commercial, educational, and recreational
   1-16  opportunities of Galveston Bay; the event will feature a dinner
   1-17  dance and numerous exhibits and water-related activities for
   1-18  people of all ages; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Congress of the United States has declared
   1-20  Galveston Bay to be a Nationally Significant Estuary; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Growth, development, and renovation in the area have
   1-22  been managed with care in order to preserve natural habitats and
   1-23  historic sites, and local residents deserve credit for helping
    2-1  to preserve the many diverse amenities of Galveston Bay; now,
    2-2  therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of Bay Day and
    2-5  extend best wishes for a joyous and celebratory Bay Day Festival;
    2-6  and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
    2-8  Bay Day sponsors and organizers as an expression of high regard
    2-9  from the Texas Senate.
