No. 685 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay 1-3 tribute to Babe Aycock of Mart, Texas, who was recently inducted 1-4 into the Texas Emergency Medical Services Hall of Fame; and 1-5 WHEREAS, An excellent role model for younger citizens, 1-6 Babe Aycock is the first volunteer, the first mayor, and the 1-7 first 79-year-old person to be installed into this eminent 1-8 organization; and 1-9 WHEREAS, She joins a group of five other notable emergency 1-10 medical specialists who are being honored by the Texas Department 1-11 of Health; and 1-12 WHEREAS, She started her illustrious career in emergency 1-13 medicine while she was Mayor of Mart in 1983; at that time she 1-14 spearheaded a drive that made it possible for the city to assume 1-15 responsibility for ambulance service and organized a fund-raising 1-16 drive to purchase the city's ambulance; and 1-17 WHEREAS, A woman with abundant energy, Babe Aycock was also 1-18 one of the town's first volunteers to earn her certification as an 1-19 emergency care attendant; by 1988 she had earned licensure as a 1-20 paramedic; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Her leadership is certainly one of the reasons the 1-22 Mart Emergency Medical Service has become a leader in its field; 1-23 her unit has been recognized as the nation's leading basic life 2-1 support service by the National Association of Emergency Medical 2-2 Technicians; the group has also been selected as the outstanding 2-3 volunteer Emergency Medical Service by the Texas Department of 2-4 Health; and 2-5 WHEREAS, This indomitable woman also works with the "Shots 2-6 Across Texas" children's immunization program; she has recently 2-7 used her considerable experience to help the development of a 2-8 trauma system in the Waco community; and 2-9 WHEREAS, Babe Aycock also strives to ensure that Emergency 2-10 Medical Systems groups take part in the Heart of Texas Regional 2-11 Advisory Council, and she helped develop the council's annual 2-12 recognition ceremony for this year; and 2-13 WHEREAS, The former mayor is an indefatigable woman and 2-14 continues to work a daily shift with the Mart Emergency Medical 2-15 Service; her boundless commitment and devotion to the welfare 2-16 of her community, county, and state certainly deserve legislative 2-17 recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-18 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-19 74th Legislature, hereby commend Babe Aycock for her unparalleled 2-20 service to the citizens of the State of Texas; and, be it further 2-21 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-22 as an expression of the gratitude and high regard of the 2-23 Texas Senate. 2-24 ______________________________________ 2-25 President of the Senate 3-1 I hereby certify that the above 3-2 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-3 on April 12, 1995. 3-4 ______________________________________ 3-5 Secretary of the Senate 3-6 ______________________________________ 3-7 Member, Texas Senate
