    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, It is indeed an honor for the Senate to recognize
    1-3  the staff of the Bryan Eagle for capturing nine newspaper awards
    1-4  at the annual Texas Associated Press Managing Editors Convention in
    1-5  Galveston; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The talented and hardworking staff members are
    1-7  devoted to giving their community the best possible newspaper, and
    1-8  their superb efforts have earned them the accolades of their
    1-9  colleagues; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Eagle reporter Chris Whitley won two honorable
   1-11  mention awards for his work on the Normangee bank robbery and for
   1-12  his report on a College Station love affair that erupted into an
   1-13  arson case; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The Eagle won five other honorable mentions in
   1-15  tough competition in various news categories with newspapers with
   1-16  comparable circulation from around the state; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Each awards category required a combined team effort
   1-18  from the members of the staff, who are to be commended for the
   1-19  excellence of their work; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The awards are a tribute to the men and women who
   1-21  have contributed to the enduring success of the Bryan Eagle; now,
   1-22  therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-1  74th Legislature, hereby extend hearty congratulations to award
    2-2  winner Chris Whitley for his excellent reporting in the Bryan Eagle
    2-3  and extend to him best wishes for continued success in his future
    2-4  endeavors; and, be it further
    2-5        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-6  Mr. Whitley as a memento of his outstanding accomplishments.
