1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Dan Edd Hamilton
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
1-6 of Mexia in mourning the death of prominent citizen Dan Edd Hamilton
1-7 who died February 28, 1995; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Born at Coolidge on October 22, 1919, he was a
1-9 lifelong resident of the Mexia area; and
1-10 WHEREAS, A man who believed in giving back to his community,
1-11 Mr. Hamilton had served the City of Mexia as Mayor Pro Tem and
1-12 as City Commissioner; and
1-13 WHEREAS, This industrious gentleman was retired after working
1-14 as a Mobil Oil consignee for 26 years; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Prior to his employment with Mobil, he had been
1-16 manager of the Mexia Coca-Cola Bottling Company; and
1-17 WHEREAS, This devout Christian was a member of the First
1-18 Baptist Church; he was also a member of Springfield Masonic Lodge
1-19 74 AF&AM; and
1-20 WHEREAS, A man of great ability and unquestioned integrity,
1-21 Mr. Hamilton was a member of the original board of the BiStone
1-22 Municipal Water Supply District, and he had also been a member
1-23 of the boards of the Farmers State Bank and the First Mexia Bank;
2-1 and
2-2 WHEREAS, The people of Mexia received the benefit of his
2-3 notable abilities, and his contributions will serve as a legacy
2-4 to his community for years to come; now, therefore, be it
2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-6 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to
2-7 the members of his family: his sons, Robert G. Hamilton
2-8 and Dale E. Hamilton; his granddaughters, Kimberly Barker and
2-9 Casey Mitchell; and his great-grandson; and, be it further
2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
2-11 family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
2-12 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
2-13 Dan Edd Hamilton.
