    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Edward S. Cahoon
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Hempstead in mourning the loss of Edward S. Cahoon who died
    1-7  February 28, 1995; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Born in Borne, Massachusetts, in 1918, he had been
    1-9  a longtime resident of Waller County; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Mr. Cahoon raised his family in Waller County, where
   1-11  he worked as a master brick mason; some of the local structures
   1-12  that reflect his work include the Waller High School, the Prairie
   1-13  View A&M University dormitories, the Rustic Oaks Restaurant, the
   1-14  Lawrence Marshall Dealership, and numerous custom homes in the
   1-15  area; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, His superb workmanship was highly regarded and
   1-17  enabled him to work on several Houston area schools and hospitals
   1-18  and the world-famous Astrodome; his high-level security clearance
   1-19  qualified him to perform masonry work on various top-secret military
   1-20  installations; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A highly decorated combat veteran of World War II
   1-22  who was wounded on four separate occasions, Edward Cahoon earned
   1-23  numerous medals, including the Bronze Star, the Silver Star,
    2-1  and the Purple Heart with Clusters while serving in the F Company
    2-2  of the historic 141st Regiment of the 36th Infantry Division; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The courage and heroism that earned him the Silver
    2-4  Star perhaps best define the determination and bravery of the husband,
    2-5  father, and proud American whose passing will leave a great void in
    2-6  the lives of his family, his friends, and the State of Texas; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
   2-10  of his family:  his wife, Betty Cahoon; his sons, Michael P. Cahoon
   2-11  and Peter S. Cahoon; his daughters, Colleen Foudrey and Molly Allen;
   2-12  his brother, James Cahoon; his half-sisters, Betty Ann Wright,
   2-13  Mary Jan Moran, and Louise Shotte; and his 15 grandchildren; and,
   2-14  be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-16  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-17  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-18  Edward S. Cahoon.
