1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 In Memory
1-3 of
1-4 Earn Roland Lockhart
1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
1-6 of Groesbeck in mourning the loss of Earn Roland Lockhart who died
1-7 March 9, 1995, at the age of 65; and
1-8 WHEREAS, Born August 20, 1929, in the Thelma community of
1-9 Limestone County, Earn Lockhart attended the Rocky and Woodland
1-10 School and married Cora L. Davis; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Earn Lockhart was dedicated to his work as a mail
1-12 carrier for the United States Postal Service and received an award
1-13 for his 21 years of loyal service; and
1-14 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
1-15 Mr. Lockhart was respected for his many accomplishments and
1-16 was a well-known leader in his community; and
1-17 WHEREAS, He served for 15 years as a member of the Groesbeck
1-18 City Council and was a board member of the Central Texas Economic
1-19 Development District for 10 years; he was a founding member of the
1-20 Board of Directors of the South Limestone Hospital District and
1-21 served on its board for seven years; and
1-22 WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
1-23 gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
2-1 and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him;
2-2 and
2-3 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Earn Lockhart was a member of
2-4 the Head Branch Missionary Baptist Church where he was chairman
2-5 of the Deacon Board and the finance committee; he served as
2-6 church treasurer and superintendent of the Sunday school; and
2-7 WHEREAS, Earn Lockhart was a devoted husband and father,
2-8 and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever
2-9 by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
2-10 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-11 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the
2-12 bereaved family of Earn Roland Lockhart: his wife, Cora Lockhart;
2-13 his daughter, LaRita Von Lockhart; his sisters, A. V. Williams
2-14 and Opal Robinson; his stepmother, Fredonia Lockhart; and his
2-15 stepsisters, Ludell Lacy and Annie Joe Tatum; and, be it further
2-16 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
2-17 members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
2-18 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
2-19 in memory of Earn Lockhart.
