    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                            Ralph H. Walton
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
    1-6  of Grapeland in mourning the loss of Ralph H. Walton who died
    1-7  March 2, 1995, at the age of 76; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Ralph Walton was born on April 4, 1918, in
    1-9  Grapeland to Gilbert Arthur and Sallie Mae Kent Walton; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, He served his country honorably in World War II as
   1-11  a Chief Petty Officer on the USS Washington; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, From 1952 to 1968, Mr. Walton was employed by
   1-13  Sullivan Motor Company in Crockett; he was appointed Postmaster
   1-14  of the Grapeland Post Office in 1968 and worked there until his
   1-15  retirement in 1985; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A man of deep religious convictions, Ralph Walton
   1-17  was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church; he served as
   1-18  deacon and church treasurer and was a member of the choir for 40
   1-19  years; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, A man of great ability and unquestioned integrity,
   1-21  this distinguished gentleman was also a former member of the
   1-22  Grapeland Independent School Board; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be sorely
    2-1  missed by those who lived and worked with him; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, The people of Grapeland received the benefit of
    2-3  his notable abilities, and his many lasting contributions to his
    2-4  beloved city will remain as a legacy of his devotion to his
    2-5  hometown; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the members
    2-8  of his family:  his wife, Dora Maurice Long Walton; his daughter,
    2-9  Zoe Williams; his sons, Ralph Walton, Jr., Maurice G. Walton, and
   2-10  Paul L. Walton; his brother, Gilbert Arthur Walton; his sister,
   2-11  Shirley M. Anderson; and his 11 grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his
   2-13  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-14  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  Ralph H. Walton.
