    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing George L. Finch for his outstanding contributions to
    1-4  the Boy Scouts of America; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Currently the Scout Master of Austin Boy Scout
    1-6  Troop 10, George Finch has been active in scouting for over 47
    1-7  years, with 37 of those years in a leadership capacity; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, George Finch is on staff with the Capitol Area's
    1-9  In School Scouting for the Austin Independent School District at
   1-10  Allison Elementary School, serves as Committee Chairman of Austin
   1-11  Cub Scout Pack 398, serves as Committee Chairman of Austin Explorer
   1-12  Post 10, and will serve as program director of the Scout Resident
   1-13  Camp 1995; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, For 25 years, he served in leadership roles with
   1-15  Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Explorer Scout organizations at the
   1-16  Texas School for the Deaf; he was the cofounder of Austin Cub
   1-17  Scout Pack 398 and Austin Explorer Post 10; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Talented and well experienced, Mr. Finch has
   1-19  served on the National Council of Scouting for the Handicapped and
   1-20  on training teams for Cub Scouts, Webelos, and Boy Scout leaders;
   1-21  he served on the Silver Beaver Board, the Summer Camp Staff, and
   1-22  Camporee, Parade, and Scout Expo Committees; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The youngest scout leader to receive the Silver
    2-1  Beaver award, George Finch has received the Capitol District Award
    2-2  of Merit and the Vigil of the Order of the Arrow; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, A positive influence on many youths, George Finch
    2-4  has seen 35 of his scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout during
    2-5  his 26 years as scout master of Boy Scout Troop 10; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, George Finch is a remarkable individual who
    2-7  enriches the lives of those around him; an exemplary gentleman,
    2-8  he inspires others through his integrity, his dedication, and his
    2-9  uncommon perseverance; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby commend George Finch on his exceptional
   2-12  contributions to the Boy Scouts of America and to the young people
   2-13  of Texas; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-15  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
