    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Texas Military Forces Museum and Archives, opened
    1-3  in November of 1992, has as its principal goal the preservation of
    1-4  the history, traditions, and heritage of the Military Forces of
    1-5  the State of Texas; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The museum was developed at Camp Mabry in Austin
    1-7  and serves as a focal point for all Texans and visitors to our state
    1-8  to see and experience the rich military history of Texas, from the
    1-9  opening shot of the Texas Revolution to the present day, in terms
   1-10  of the contributions made by the members of the Texas Military
   1-11  Forces and their families; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, These forces include all the citizen soldiers,
   1-13  airmen, sailors, and marines who were members of the Texas Army,
   1-14  Navy, and Militia, the volunteers who participated in the War with
   1-15  Mexico, the War Between the States, and the Spanish-American War,
   1-16  members of the Texas Volunteer Guard and National Guard who were
   1-17  called to defend our nation during World Wars I and II, the
   1-18  Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, and Desert Shield/Desert Storm,
   1-19  the Texas Defense Guard, and the Texas State Guard; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, The museum also preserves the history of those
   1-21  Texans who served during the Cold War and those who were trained
   1-22  and ready, but were never called to hostile action; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The museum's displays and archives reflect
    2-1  the sacrifices and contributions of the relatives who waited for
    2-2  loved ones to return, while doing their part on the home front; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, The frequent and significant contributions of
    2-4  the State Military Forces to Texas communities in times of natural
    2-5  disasters also are presented effectively in the museum and archives;
    2-6  and
    2-7        WHEREAS, The displays, documents, artifacts, uniforms,
    2-8  equipment, and personal effects of the men and women who served
    2-9  our state and nation have been gathered from many sources; now,
   2-10  therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby call upon all Texans, wherever they
   2-13  may be, to support the Texas Military Forces Museum and Archives
   2-14  and its volunteers in preserving the history of the Texas Military
   2-15  Forces for current and future generations.
