No. 737 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure 1-3 in recognizing Dr. Inez Jeffery who has been selected as Austin's 1-4 Most Worthy Citizen by the Austin Board of Realtors; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Well known for her outstanding work in the 1-6 Austin community, she has a doctoral degree in education and 1-7 has devoted her life to educating children and to helping the 1-8 elderly; Dr. Jeffery established the renowned Jeffery School in 1-9 Austin for two-to-six-year-old children and was noted for her 1-10 innovative teaching techniques; and 1-11 WHEREAS, A woman of many talents and interests, she served 1-12 as director of the school until 1981; she then opened her own 1-13 business, an international business consulting firm, International 1-14 Diversified Services; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader who generously 1-16 devotes time and energy to a wide array of causes, Dr. Jeffery 1-17 served for 14 years on the Travis County Child Welfare Board, was 1-18 chairwoman of the Citizens Advocacy Council to the Texas Department 1-19 on Aging, and was head of President Carter's committee on the Status 1-20 of the Family; she received an award in 1990 for her services as 1-21 commissioner of the Housing Authority of the City of Austin; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Dr. Jeffery is an exemplary and distinguished 1-23 citizen whose concern for others is legendary; a source of 2-1 strength and knowledge to many, she has greatly enriched the 2-2 Austin community; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 74th Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Inez Jeffery on her 2-5 exceptional achievements and extend congratulations to her on 2-6 her selection as Austin's Most Worthy Citizen; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-8 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on April 19, 1995. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
