    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Jan Lemons was recently selected the 1994 Citizen of
    1-3  the Year by the Colorado City Chamber of Commerce for her notable
    1-4  contributions to the citizens of her community; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Mrs. Lemons has devoted countless hours to helping
    1-6  those in need and has been a leader in civic organizations that
    1-7  provide assistance to charitable causes; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Her tireless energy and her commitment to fulfill
    1-9  each task she undertakes have made Jan a treasured friend and
   1-10  valued citizen of Colorado City; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, The personification of neighborliness, Mrs. Lemons
   1-12  shares the pecans she harvests and the fresh vegetables she raises
   1-13  with others, often sits with ill neighbors so their families can have
   1-14  some free time, takes food to sick and housebound individuals in
   1-15  her community, and visits rest homes on a regular basis; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, As co-chairperson of the Kiwanians, Jan Lemons is
   1-17  responsible for overseeing the various projects that the members
   1-18  are involved in to enhance the lives of those less fortunate; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, She was instrumental in establishing the Mitchell
   1-20  County Christmas in April program that is now in its third year;
   1-21  during 1994 some 400 workers using $17,000 in donated funds
   1-22  renovated 40 homes of low-income families; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Never too busy to listen to another or to help in
    2-1  any area needed, Jan Lemons is an exceptional individual who always
    2-2  puts others first; her ready smile and cheerfulness brighten the
    2-3  spirits of all those who work around her; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, She is truly a dedicated Christian who lives her
    2-5  faith in her daily life, providing a sterling example for others
    2-6  to emulate; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend Jan Lemons for her compassion and
    2-9  her devotion to the citizens of Colorado City and recognize her as
   2-10  a most worthy 1994 Citizen of the Year; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  her as an expression of the gratitude and high regard of the
   2-13  Texas Senate.
