1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
1-3 recognize James E. Brooks who was recently awarded a Lifetime
1-4 Membership in the Galena Park Chamber of Commerce; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Born in Thornton, Texas, in Limestone County on
1-6 August 9, 1930, he graduated from Thornton High School in 1948;
1-7 Mr. Brooks served his country honorably in the Korean conflict
1-8 in the United States Army from 1951 through 1953; and
1-9 WHEREAS, He married Mildred Daigle in May, 1954; together
1-10 they established a home and raised their daughter, Betty Jean, and
1-11 are the proud grandparents of three wonderful grandchildren; and
1-12 WHEREAS, A man of strong religious convictions, James Brooks
1-13 is a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galena Park; and
1-14 WHEREAS, This outstanding public servant has recently
1-15 retired from being a plumbing contractor and is presently serving
1-16 his seventh term as Water and Sewer Commissioner in Galena Park;
1-17 and
1-18 WHEREAS, Always willing to give of his time and energy to
1-19 a worthy cause, James E. Brooks is highly regarded by his fellow
1-20 citizens; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Galena Park is indeed fortunate to count him as
1-22 one of its most dedicated leaders; now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-1 74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to James E. Brooks
2-2 on being awarded a Lifetime Membership in the Galena Park Chamber
2-3 of Commerce; and, be it further
2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2-5 him as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
