    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Olga L. Cantu who is graduating this spring from
    1-4  San Jacinto College; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, An outstanding student, she graduated from Highlands
    1-6  High School in San Antonio in 1978; she placed in the top 10 percent
    1-7  of her class and was a member of the National Honor Society; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, From 1978 to 1980 Olga pursued studies in home
    1-9  economics with a concentration in child development; she earned
   1-10  70 hours, including 14 hours in Spanish and nine hours in child
   1-11  development; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, She returned to school in 1992 and will graduate
   1-13  with an associate degree in nursing; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Olga has extensive experience working with children
   1-15  with mental disabilities, has assisted nursing staff and therapists
   1-16  with physical and occupational therapy, and has taught parents how
   1-17  to use children's books to create interesting activities for their
   1-18  children; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, This bright young woman has pursued every opportunity
   1-20  to learn about nursing in all of its various aspects; she has also
   1-21  utilized her Spanish to better serve patients who do not speak
   1-22  English as their primary language; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Many promising opportunities abound for this
    2-1  enterprising graduate, and her efforts are certainly worthy of
    2-2  legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Olga L. Cantu as she looks
    2-5  forward to her future; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
    2-7  as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate.
