No. 757 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Jose Garza 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the family 1-6 and friends of respected businessman Jose "Joe" Garza in mourning 1-7 his tragic loss at the age of 57; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mr. Garza will be remembered with gratitude as a 1-9 caring individual who contributed to the lives of others through 1-10 his generosity and deeds of kindness; and 1-11 WHEREAS, An astute merchant who was well liked by his 1-12 customers, Joe Garza was the owner of La Monita Tortilleria, 1-13 a business founded by his father, Henry G. Garza, 45 years ago; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, A native of San Antonio, Mr. Garza was a 1957 1-16 graduate of San Antonio Vocational and Technical High School 1-17 and Durham's Business College; he received an honorable discharge 1-18 from the Army National Guard and worked in the meat department of 1-19 Handy Andy for 10 years before taking over his father's business 1-20 when his father retired; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Mr. Garza provided a loving 1-22 home for his wife, Ramona, and their children, Henry, Jesse, 1-23 Richard, and Jo Ann; and 2-1 WHEREAS, A man of strong character who lived his faith in 2-2 his daily life, Joe Garza was a frequent visitor of Saint Jude's 2-3 Catholic Church; he enjoyed fishing and relaxing at Braunig Lake 2-4 with his family; and 2-5 WHEREAS, His wise counsel and sound judgment will be 2-6 remembered with gratitude by all those who loved him and shared 2-7 his life; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-10 family of Jose "Joe" Garza: his wife, Ramona; his mother, 2-11 Consuelo Garza; his sons, Henry J. Garza, Jesse A. Garza, and 2-12 Richard L.
