No. 761 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 The Victims of Oklahoma City 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins with 1-6 citizens across the nation in mourning the tragic loss of life in 1-7 Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Mere words cannot adequately convey the sorrow, 1-9 despair, and outrage felt by all people of reason and decency in 1-10 the aftermath of yesterday's terrible tragedy in Oklahoma City; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The unprovoked and brutal terroristic killing of 1-12 innocent men, women, and children diminishes us as a civilized 1-13 people and as a nation rooted in liberty and justice; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Faced with the ultimate horror of evil in its most 1-15 repugnant and despicable manifestations, we must join together as 1-16 a nation and reaffirm our commitment to the principles of American 1-17 democracy that we cherish and hold dear; and 1-18 WHEREAS, In the bleak days to come, our hearts and prayers 1-19 will reach out to offer what little comfort they can to the victims 1-20 of the explosion and the bereaved families; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Their tragic loss will never be erased from our 1-22 nation's consciousness, and their memory will strengthen our resolve 1-23 to carry on as a law-abiding nation rooted in decency and honor; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The State of Texas has shared a strong bond of 2-2 friendship with the State of Oklahoma since our earliest days and 2-3 offers the grieving state whatever succor and aid it can; now, 2-4 therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-6 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-7 State of Oklahoma and to families of all those who tragically 2-8 perished in Oklahoma City; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in the 2-10 memory of all these men, women, and children, and that when the 2-11 Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the victims in 2-12 Oklahoma City. 2-13 Truan 2-14 Armbrister Henderson Ratliff 2-15 Barrientos Leedom Rosson 2-16 Bivins Lucio Shapiro 2-17 Brown Luna Sibley 2-18 Cain Madla Sims 2-19 Ellis Moncrief Turner 2-20 Gallegos Montford Wentworth 2-21 Galloway Nelson West 2-22 Harris Nixon Whitmire 2-23 Haywood Patterson Zaffirini 2-24 Bullock, President of the Senate 2-25 ______________________________________ 3-1 President of the Senate 3-2 I hereby certify that the above 3-3 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-4 on April 20, 1995, by a rising vote. 3-5 ______________________________________ 3-6 Secretary of the Senate 3-7 ______________________________________ 3-8 Dean of the Senate
