    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
    1-3  recognizing Estella Stewart Hicks, who is retiring after 30 years
    1-4  of loyal service as a schoolteacher with the Austin Independent
    1-5  School District; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Estella Hicks was an inspirational and talented
    1-7  teacher who taught at Kealing Middle School for one year and at
    1-8  L. L. Campbell Elementary School for 11 years; she taught fourth
    1-9  grade at Cunningham Elementary School for the last 18 years; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Throughout her career, she enjoyed the love and
   1-11  support of her husband, Booker T. Hicks, Jr., and her daughter,
   1-12  Patricia Hicks; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Devoted to her work and to the field of education,
   1-14  Estella Hicks assisted with a wide array of student activities
   1-15  over the years and distinguished herself in her profession; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The students of Mrs. Hicks greatly benefitted
   1-17  from her skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the
   1-18  individual, and her wise counsel and encouragement; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, she
   1-20  instilled in her students an appreciation for hard work and a
   1-21  love of challenge and learning; now, therefore, be it
   1-22        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-23  74th Legislature, hereby commend Estella Hicks for her many
    2-1  contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best
    2-2  wishes to her for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
    2-4  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
