    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in
    1-3  recognizing John Thompson, who has been selected for the Citizen of
    1-4  the Year Award by the Taylor Rotary Club; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson is well known for his outstanding work
    1-6  in the Taylor community and was particularly appreciated during the
    1-7  1994 Christmas season when citizens enjoyed his light display on
    1-8  Heritage Square; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A dedicated and active volunteer, John Thompson
   1-10  generously devotes time and energy to civic affairs and to causes
   1-11  that benefit the young people in the community; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson has been a longtime supporter
   1-13  of 4-H and Future Farmers of America through the purchase of
   1-14  livestock show animals, and he is one of the original donors to
   1-15  the Saint Mary's School Trust Fund; he has sponsored Taylor youth
   1-16  league teams and has volunteered his labor and material for staging
   1-17  the Hi-Stepper Spring Show; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Mr. Thompson was also responsible for the construction
   1-19  of the archives room at the Taylor Library and has generously shared
   1-20  his American Indian collection with the public; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, John Thompson's concern for others is legendary, and
   1-22  he has played a major role in the betterment of the Taylor community;
   1-23  and
    2-1        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished citizen, Mr. Thompson
    2-2  is a source of strength to many, and his worthy accomplishments
    2-3  reflect his dedication and his commitment to his fellowman; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby commend John Thompson on his exceptional
    2-7  achievements and extend congratulations to him on his selection as
    2-8  Citizen of the Year; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
   2-10  as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
