    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                           Gus Mutscher, Sr.
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
    1-6  citizens of Brenham in mourning the loss of Gus Mutscher, Sr.,
    1-7  who died April 8, 1995, at the age of 91; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A native son of Texas, he was born in the
    1-9  William Penn community on November 3, 1903; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, A lover of sports and the outdoors, he played
   1-11  baseball as a young man and maintained a lifelong interest in
   1-12  the sport; he was an avid fan and supporter of Blinn College and
   1-13  The University of Texas; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Mr. Mutscher was inducted into the South Central
   1-15  Texas Semi-Pro Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, A devout and dedicated Christian, he was very
   1-17  active in Bethlehem Church of William Penn and Grace Lutheran
   1-18  Church of Brenham, serving as an officer in the two churches for
   1-19  over 30 years; he belonged to the Lutheran Laymen's League for over
   1-20  45 years; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Devoted to the land, Gus Mutscher was a farmer and
   1-22  rancher; he was also an employee of Western Auto for more than 30
   1-23  years; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, His wise counsel and good judgment will be greatly
    2-2  missed and remembered with gratitude; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Gus Mutscher, Sr., leaves behind a legacy of
    2-4  compassion and commitment that will remain cherished by those who
    2-5  lived and worked with him; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby express sincere condolences to the members
    2-8  of his family:  his wife, Gertie Goeke Mutscher; his daughters,
    2-9  Betty Boecker and Margie Foelber; his sons, Goeke Mutscher and
   2-10  Gus Mutscher, Jr.; his sisters, Gertrude Klussmann, Lydia Mertins,
   2-11  and Louise Klussmann; his brother, Herbert Mutscher; and his eight
   2-12  grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-14  his family as an expression of the deepest sympathy from the
   2-15  Texas Senate, and when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
   2-16  memory of Gus Mutscher, Sr.
