    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Dr. Charles Walker is retiring from his post as
    1-3  chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party, bringing to a
    1-4  close a highly successful tenure in the political arena that has
    1-5  spanned more than three decades; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Taking on the mantle of the county chairmanship
    1-7  in 1964, he served his party's needs with distinction until 1970;
    1-8  he later began his second term as chairman in 1983 and has continued
    1-9  in that capacity through the present time; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Under his dynamic leadership, the Republican
   1-11  Party in Jefferson County has experienced unprecedented growth,
   1-12  and his exceptional efforts in expanding his party's voter base
   1-13  have helped to create substantial success at both the state and
   1-14  national levels; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Dr. Walker can indeed look back with tremendous
   1-16  pride and satisfaction on his many remarkable accomplishments as
   1-17  a political leader and activist as he begins his well-deserved
   1-18  retirement; now, therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-20  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Dr. Charles Walker on his
   1-21  exceptional tenure as chairman of the Jefferson County Republican
   1-22  Party and extend warmest best wishes to him for a happy and
   1-23  rewarding retirement.
