No. 828 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride 1-3 in recognizing Verda Malone Logan who is retiring after 35 and 1-4 one-half years of loyal service as a schoolteacher; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mrs. Logan began her career in education at 1-6 Washington Elementary School in Gipsonville before transferring 1-7 to the Huntington Independent School District; and 1-8 WHEREAS, A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State College, 1-9 Mrs. Logan earned a master of art in reading and a certification 1-10 in special education; a knowledgeable teacher in several areas, 1-11 Mrs. Logan taught reading and Texas history; in resource class, 1-12 she taught mathematics, reading, and language; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Devoted to her work, Verda Logan assisted with a 1-14 wide array of student activities over the years and distinguished 1-15 herself in her profession; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Her students greatly benefitted from her skillful 1-17 teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual, and her 1-18 wise counsel and encouragement; and 1-19 WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady and a resourceful 1-20 educator, Mrs. Logan instilled in her students an appreciation for 1-21 hard work and a love of challenge and learning; now, therefore, 1-22 be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 74th Legislature, hereby commend Verda Logan for her many 2-2 contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best 2-3 wishes to her for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-5 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-6 ______________________________________ 2-7 President of the Senate 2-8 I hereby certify that the above 2-9 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-10 on April 27, 1995. 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Secretary of the Senate 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Member, Texas Senate
