1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure
1-3 in recognizing Joe W. Belk who is retiring after 41 years of loyal
1-4 service as a schoolteacher with the Huntington Independent School
1-5 District; Mr. Belk was with the Huntington Independent School
1-6 District throughout his entire career in education; and
1-7 WHEREAS, Joe Belk was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State
1-8 College; he married Marie Denney, and the couple was blessed with
1-9 two children, Denise Wilcox and Craig Belk; and
1-10 WHEREAS, A talented teacher, Joe Belk taught agriculture for
1-11 36 years; he also served as the district's superintendent for five
1-12 years from 1972 to 1977; and
1-13 WHEREAS, Devoted to his work, Mr. Belk assisted with a wide
1-14 array of student activities over the years and distinguished himself
1-15 in his profession; and
1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. Belk's students greatly benefitted from his
1-17 skillful teaching methods, his sincere concern for the individual,
1-18 and his wise counsel and encouragement; and
1-19 WHEREAS, A dedicated and resourceful educator, Joe Belk
1-20 instilled in his students an appreciation for hard work and a
1-21 love of challenge and learning; now, therefore, be it
1-22 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
1-23 74th Legislature, hereby commend Joe W. Belk for his many
2-1 contributions to the educational system of Texas and extend best
2-2 wishes to him for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
2-3 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
2-4 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
