    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Texas Senate takes pleasure in congratulating
    1-3  the Texas College 1995 mens basketball team on its highly successful
    1-4  season; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, After an early season slow start with the team
    1-6  posting two wins against 13 losses, the Texas College Steers managed
    1-7  to turn the season around to end with 12 wins and 20 losses, thereby
    1-8  placing second in the conference; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In post-season play, the Steers continued their
   1-10  winning ways and came out victorious in the conference tournament;
   1-11  their outstanding achievement is the result of the team's fighting
   1-12  spirit and indomitable drive; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, The success of the team is a tribute to the
   1-14  dedication and skill of the players and the inspiration and guidance
   1-15  of their coach; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Acting Head Coach John Thomas has been on the
   1-17  coaching staff of Texas College for five years where he has also
   1-18  served as assistant coach for both the mens and womens basketball
   1-19  teams before becoming fully involved with the mens athletic program;
   1-20  over a three-year period, the Texas College mens basketball team won
   1-21  two national championships and placed fourth in the National Small
   1-22  College Tournament in 1994; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The Texas College mens basketball team has brought
    2-1  recognition to themselves, their school, and their community,
    2-2  and are to be commended for their notable accomplishments:
    2-3  Clifton Bowers, Carl Brown, Tracy Davis, Kenny Evans, Kindred King,
    2-4  Bennet Jones, Rodney Lamar, Robert McKenzie, Willie Neal,
    2-5  Chris Ratliff, Shelby Robinson, Corey Stewart, Leonard Stewart,
    2-6  and Chris Thomas; and Coach John Thomas, Trainer Richard Beamon,
    2-7  and Record Keeper Paul Willis; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the Texas College
   2-10  Steers for continued success in their future endeavors; and, be it
   2-11  further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-13  players and staff as a memento of their 1994-1995 basketball season.
