    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                              M. R. Koger
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas noted with sadness
    1-6  the passing of a native son, M. R. "Frog" Koger of Big Spring, who
    1-7  died on March 18, 1995, at the age of 77; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, This highly respected gentleman was born on
    1-9  July 11, 1917, in Shamrock, Texas, grew up there, and graduated
   1-10  from Shamrock High School; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He attended Texas Tech University from 1936 to 1940,
   1-12  the year in which he was also married to Mary Louise Inkman; that
   1-13  same year, Mr. Koger and his new bride moved to Big Spring, where
   1-14  he owned and operated M. R. Koger Insurance Agency for more than 20
   1-15  years, and this seasoned businessman also worked as an oil broker
   1-16  for a number of years; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, During World War II, Mr. Koger served his country as
   1-18  a member of the Army Air Corps; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, A man of strong Christian faith, Mr. Koger was active
   1-20  in Saint Mary's Episcopal Church; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, A man of ability and unquestioned integrity, he was
   1-22  a community member who was integral to his society; in addition to
   1-23  the dedication and diligence his businesses required, Mr. Koger
    2-1  brought his experience and sagacity to his service as a member of
    2-2  the Big Spring City Council from 1970 to 1971, as Chairman of the
    2-3  United Way in 1966, and as president of the Chamber of Commerce in
    2-4  1969; he belonged to the Rotary Club and served for many years as
    2-5  chairman of the Board of Trustees at Hall Bennett Hospital and as
    2-6  district chairman of the Buffalo Trails Boy Scout Council; his
    2-7  varied achievements contributed to the growth and progress of his
    2-8  community, and he endeared himself to those who worked with him
    2-9  through his friendship and camaraderie; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-11  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to his family:
   2-12  his wife, Mary Louise Koger; his daughter, Karon Passow; and his
   2-13  granddaughters, Jenny and Susan Passow; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
   2-15  members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
   2-16  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so
   2-17  in memory of M. R. "Frog" Koger.
