    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize the Plano Senior High School soccer team on the occasion
    1-4  of its winning the 1995 state championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, This is the fourth state championship that this
    1-6  notable school has won in the last five years, competing in one
    1-7  of the toughest districts in the state; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The Wildcats completed their season with a 23-2-2
    1-9  record; their prowess was such that they scored 65 goals and only
   1-10  allowed 18 goals to be scored this season; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Serving in his 18th season as Head Coach, Bob Weir
   1-12  was selected District 22 Coach of the Year; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Besides providing the winning strategy, Head Coach
   1-14  Bob Weir, Assistant Coaches Jaydon McCullough and Mark Marshall,
   1-15  and Athletic Trainer Mark Stine were an invaluable source of
   1-16  inspiration to these splendid young athletes; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, This championship team was so talented that team
   1-18  member Andy Weis was selected District 22 Most Valuable Player;
   1-19  five team members were selected for the District 22-5A First Team;
   1-20  two team members were selected for the District 22-5A Second Team;
   1-21  two team members were selected for the Region 2 First Team; one
   1-22  team member was selected for the Region 2 Second Team; and four
   1-23  team members were selected for the State Tournament Team; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, The team devoted time and energy to practicing the
    2-2  fundamental skills of the game and exercised individual discipline
    2-3  which was apparent in their excellent showing against their
    2-4  opponents; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, Exhibiting perseverance, team unity, and respect for
    2-6  the highest ideals of American sportsmanship, team members brought
    2-7  honor to their school, their community, and their state; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Their highly successful year is a tribute to the team
    2-9  members' exceptional talent and the loyalty that they consistently
   2-10  displayed; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the Plano Senior High School
   2-13  soccer team for its great victory and applaud the coaches, trainer,
   2-14  and each of the team players for a job well done; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this
   2-16  excellent team as a token of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
