No. 915 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to join 1-3 the Fort Worth Women's Hall of Fame in saluting its honorees for 1-4 the 1996 Outstanding Women of Fort Worth; and 1-5 WHEREAS, It is fitting that these notable women are being 1-6 acknowledged during National Women's History Month; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Women have made great strides over the course of 1-8 this century and have overcome many long-standing cultural 1-9 limitations in the professional world and in the fields of 1-10 education and politics; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The honorees were all selected because of their 1-12 outstanding contributions to the welfare and progress of their 1-13 community, city, state, and nation; and 1-14 WHEREAS, An awards program and reception were held on 1-15 March 22, 1995, during which each of the honorees was officially 1-16 recognized; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The winner of the Superwoman Award is Patsy Thomas 1-18 who serves as executive director of the Citizens' Crime Commission 1-19 and is the founder of the Fort Worth Academy for children with 1-20 learning disabilities; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Paying homage to these eminent women will help build 1-22 an awareness and a greater appreciation of the many accomplishments 1-23 of women and of the contributions they have made to our society 2-1 through their leadership and dedication; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Patsy Thomas on being named 2-4 one of the 1996 Outstanding Women of Fort Worth; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 Patsy Thomas as an expression of the highest esteem of the 2-7 Texas Senate. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 4, 1995. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
