No. 935 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Christina Manzano who was recently named to the Association 1-4 of Science and Technology Center's Honor Roll by the Fort Worth 1-5 Museum of Science and History; and 1-6 WHEREAS, She is a fourth-grade teacher from Hubbard Heights 1-7 Elementary School and has been instrumental in the museum's efforts 1-8 to build bridges with Fort Worth Independent School District's 1-9 bilingual educators and Hispanic families within her school's diverse 1-10 neighborhoods; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The Association of Science and Technology Center's 1-12 Teacher Honor Roll, announced each year during National Science and 1-13 Technology Week, honors teachers throughout the nation who make 1-14 exemplary use of a local science center's programs and resources; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Ms. Manzano joined 49 other nationwide Honor Roll 1-16 teachers in Washington, D.C., when they were recognized by the 1-17 United States Congress, the National Science Foundation, and the 1-18 Department of Education; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Ms. Manzano and her students have been involved in 1-20 intersessions conducted between year-round school terms at the museum 1-21 by museum and Texas Christian University's School of Education staff; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, As a result of their learning experiences, her 2-1 students also became teachers, presenting a miniature "museum school" 2-2 for classrooms in Hubbard Heights; the students presented their 2-3 knowledge in both English and Spanish; and 2-4 WHEREAS, Through her outstanding work, Ms. Manzano has given 2-5 museum staff tremendous insight and guidance as they plan for future 2-6 professional development and public programming; now, therefore, be 2-7 it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Christina Manzano on being 2-10 named to the Association of Science and Technology Center's Honor 2-11 Roll by the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History; and, be it 2-12 further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-14 as an expression of the high regard and esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on May 5, 1995. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
