No. 993 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Frank Jones and his grandson, Craig Joseph, outstanding 1-4 citizens and restaurateurs of Houston, Texas; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Frank Jones founded the This Is It Restaurant in 1959 1-6 in Houston's Fourth Ward and recently passed the torch to grandson 1-7 Craig Joseph at the restaurant's new location at 207 Gray; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The This Is It Restaurant is a 35-year-old Houston 1-9 tradition in soul food dining that is well known for its consistent 1-10 menus and hearty portions; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The First Fork ceremony at the restaurant's new site 1-12 included remarks from Councilmember Al Calloway, Houston Small 1-13 Business Corporation's Roy Dittfurth, and Quest-Star Bank's 1-14 Dan Garcia; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Frank Jones is an exemplary citizen who has worked 1-16 hard to provide his customers with quality service and fine food, 1-17 and Craig Joseph, a Houston firefighter, plans to continue with 1-18 the same tradition; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-20 74th Legislature, hereby commend Frank Jones and Craig Joseph 1-21 for their culinary expertise and successful business and extend 1-22 to them congratulations on the opening of the new This Is It 1-23 Restaurant; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-2 the This Is It Restaurant as a token of high regard from the 2-3 Texas Senate. 2-4 ______________________________________ 2-5 President of the Senate 2-6 I hereby certify that the above 2-7 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-8 on May 9, 1995. 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 Secretary of the Senate 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 Member, Texas Senate
