No. 994 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 commend Reva Stern for her invaluable contributions to her faith 1-4 and to the citizens of her community; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Reva was honored on February 26, 1995, with the 1-6 Marcia Sheena Memorial Award at the Congregation Brith Shalom 1-7 Sisterhood's annual Torah Fund Event benefitting the Jewish 1-8 Theological Seminary in New York; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A native of Memphis, Mrs. Stern has devoted many 1-10 years to community service and has held numerous positions of 1-11 leadership in the organizations which she has so faithfully 1-12 supported; and 1-13 WHEREAS, She has been a member of Brith Shalom since 1984 1-14 and has worked diligently in the Sisterhood as well as the Southwest 1-15 Region Women's League for Conservative Judaism; a life member of 1-16 both Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women, she has 1-17 freely offered her abilities to assess organizational needs and to 1-18 make necessary changes to benefit the programs; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Mrs. Stern is captain of the AIDS Care Team and her 1-20 involvement with the group has been the most rewarding of all her 1-21 volunteer work; her compassion and her labors to help others have 1-22 been gratefully received by those who benefit from her generosity; 1-23 now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby join the Brith Shalom Sisterhood in 2-3 recognizing Reva Stern for her notable accomplishments; and, 2-4 be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 this esteemed individual as an expression of the admiration of the 2-7 Texas Senate. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 9, 1995. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
