    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Colonel and Mrs. Haywood E. Quinn of Granbury as
    1-4  outstanding citizens of our state; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born June 13, 1915, in Paris, Texas, Haywood Quinn
    1-6  joined the 112th Cavalry at Fort Bliss in 1938 and entered the
    1-7  Army Air Corps as a Flying Sergeant; he graduated from the
    1-8  University of Dayton and received his commission as an officer
    1-9  in the Army Air Corps during World War II; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, For his outstanding service during World War II,
   1-11  Colonel Quinn received numerous decorations, including the
   1-12  Distinguished Flying Cross, the Silver Star, and the Air Medal;
   1-13  while he was convalescing at Stinson Air Force Base in San Antonio,
   1-14  he met and married Jean Wolfram; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Born May 25, 1921, in Indiana, Jean Wolfram
   1-16  graduated from Epworth School of Nursing, Saint Mary's University
   1-17  of Notre Dame, Indiana; she faithfully served as a nurse in the
   1-18  military until she was discharged due to an injury; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Colonel and Mrs. Quinn were stationed in Japan during
   1-20  its occupation by the United States from 1945 to 1948 and moved to
   1-21  Granbury, Texas, in 1975, following Colonel Quinn's retirement from
   1-22  the United States Air Force on June 13 of that year; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Highly respected leaders in their community, Colonel
    2-1  and Mrs. Quinn have been active in a number of civic organizations;
    2-2  Colonel Quinn has been active with the Optimists and the chamber of
    2-3  commerce and is a 32nd Degree Master Mason of the Scottish Rite; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished couple, Colonel and
    2-5  Mrs. Quinn have served their country, their state, and their
    2-6  community unselfishly, and it is appropriate that they be honored
    2-7  this year, which is the 50th anniversary of the victory over Japan
    2-8  and the 51st anniversary of their marriage; now, therefore, be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-10  74th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Colonel and
   2-11  Mrs. Haywood E. Quinn as outstanding citizens of our state
   2-12  and extend to them best wishes and much joy on their forthcoming
   2-13  birthdays; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-15  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
