    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  recognize Major Randy Pullen on his new assignment as Deputy
    1-4  Chief Public Affairs/Assistant PAO for the Reserve Component PA,
    1-5  HQ, United States Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, Hawaii; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Raised in Bloomfield, Indiana, he graduated from
    1-7  Indiana University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in history;
    1-8  he was commissioned in the Field Artillery from Indiana University
    1-9  Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Major Pullen's career highlights have included a
   1-11  tour with the First Armored Division in Germany from 1978 through
   1-12  1981 and tours in the United States at Fort Campbell, Kentucky,
   1-13  and Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, During his tour as a Reserve Public Affairs staff
   1-15  officer with HQ, Central Command, he worked on the huge media
   1-16  event that took place when General Norman Schwarzkopf returned
   1-17  triumphantly to the United States after Operation Desert Storm;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, During his assignment at Fifth Army, Major Pullen
   1-20  was deployed to Somalia in October, 1993, as Media Operations
   1-21  Chief for United States Forces Somalia Joint Information Bureau
   1-22  in which he was part of a joint service public affairs unit telling
   1-23  the story of United States forces in Somalia; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, With that behind him, he looks forward to his new
    2-2  Hawaii assignment; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-4  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Major Randy Pullen and
    2-5  wish him well in his future assignments; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-7  as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
