No. 1026 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Billie Treadway Spies 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the family 1-6 and friends of Billie Treadway Spies in mourning the death of this 1-7 beloved citizen of Brenham on April 7, 1995, at the age of 67; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Born on April 2, 1928, in Alexandria, Louisiana, 1-9 this exceptional woman came to find a second true home in Texas, 1-10 and she was cherished by her husband, Clarence Spies, in a loving 1-11 and devoted marriage of 48 years; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Active in community work, Mrs. Spies found time in 1-13 her busy life to support the Burton Lioness Club, Brenham Maifest, 1-14 and Wie Ghet's Club; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Noted for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and 1-16 compassion, Mrs. Spies never complained of difficulties, but 1-17 brought happiness to all, and she won a unique place in the hearts 1-18 of everyone who knew her; her life was graced by her deep love of 1-19 flowers and music; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Spies raised their family in the 1-21 close-knit Brenham community, giving unstintingly of their 1-22 friendship and support; Billie Spies provided a positive influence 1-23 on the lives of countless people, and her absence will be keenly 2-1 felt by all; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby express sincere condolences to the 2-4 members of her family: her husband, Clarence Spies; her daughter 2-5 and son-in-law, Billie and Larry Gardner; her grandson, 2-6 Troy Gardner; and granddaughters Lauren LeNan Gardner, 2-7 Analita Gardner, and Minta Gardner Moore; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-9 family as an expression of profound sympathy from the Texas Senate, 2-10 and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-11 Billie Treadway Spies. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on May 11, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
