    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, O. J. Thomas Junior High School will miss the wisdom
    1-3  and expertise of Principal John Matlock when he retires at the end
    1-4  of this school year; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, His career in public education spans more than three
    1-6  decades and most of that career was spent in Arkansas; he has worked
    1-7  in public school administration for the last 25 years; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A native of east central Arkansas, Mr. Matlock took
    1-9  over the helm of O. J. Thomas Junior High School 10 years ago; he
   1-10  worked as a classroom teacher and coach for the first 10 years of
   1-11  his career, before he received his first administrative assignment;
   1-12  and
   1-13        WHEREAS, John Matlock feels that this is a good time for him
   1-14  to step down and begin to pursue other avenues of interests; he
   1-15  looks forward to working in his garden as well as taking care of
   1-16  several things on which he wants to spend time; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, A man of strength of character and high moral purpose,
   1-18  he will be remembered by his many associates and students as a
   1-19  dynamic force in their lives; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   1-21  74th Legislature, hereby commend the 35-year career of service
   1-22  of John Matlock and express appreciation to him for his service
   1-23  to the youth of his city and state; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
    2-2  as an expression of the highest regard of the Texas Senate.
