By: Wentworth S.R. No. 1036 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, It is a distinct honor for the Texas Senate to 1-3 recognize Stan L. McLelland on the grand occasion of his 50th 1-4 birthday, May 18, 1995, and to commend him for his exemplary life 1-5 of service to the citizens of Texas; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The son of Ralph and Lois McLelland, Stan is a 1-7 native of Harlingen, Texas; he graduated cum laude with a juris 1-8 doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law and was 1-9 inducted into the Order of the Coif; and 1-10 WHEREAS, During his student days at the university, the 1-11 outstanding student was editor of the Texas Law Review and 1-12 participated in campus life as a member of the Friar Society, 1-13 Chancellors, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Phi Delta Kappa; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A man of remarkable energy and vitality, 1-15 Stan McLelland ran and finished his very first marathon race 1-16 in Paris, France, in April, 1995; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Throughout his professional career, Mr. McLelland 1-18 has devoted his time and abilities to the development of the energy 1-19 affairs of our state and nation; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Executive Vice-President and General Counsel 1-21 of Valero Energy Corporation, Mr. McLelland has demonstrated 1-22 outstanding leadership in the energy field; he is a member of 1-23 the Federal Energy Bar Association and the Interstate Natural 2-1 Gas Association of America; and 2-2 WHEREAS, His generosity and his care and concern for others 2-3 is exemplified in his commitment to the betterment of society; 2-4 Stan is a member of the United Way Corporate Associates Council, 2-5 Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, Bexar County Hospital 2-6 District Development Board, and the Texas Union Advisory Council 2-7 at The University of Texas at Austin; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 74th Legislature, hereby express its deepest admiration and 2-10 gratitude to Stan L.
