No. 1043 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and 1-3 proud to recognize Leah McDonnell on the auspicious occasion of 1-4 her 80th birthday; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Relatives and friends gathered together to celebrate 1-6 her birthday on April 9, 1995, at a reception held in her honor; 1-7 and 1-8 WHEREAS, Highly respected in her community, Leah McDonnell is 1-9 noted for her zest for life and for the many contributions she has 1-10 made to her community; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Named Citizen of the Year of Lewisville, this 1-12 outstanding lady has won many awards throughout the years; she was 1-13 a founding member of the Community Action League of Lewisville, the 1-14 Varied Arts Club of Lewisville, the Newcomers Club of Lewisville, 1-15 and the Lewisville Public Library; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mrs. McDonnell has also contributed to her community 1-17 by serving as Chairman of the Lewisville Cancer Society, the 1-18 Denton County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Volunteer 1-19 Council of the Denton State School; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A woman who holds deep religious convictions, she is 1-21 an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lewisville 1-22 and serves on the Building Committee; certainly this distinguished 1-23 gentlewoman is worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, 2-1 be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby commend the life of service of 2-4 Leah McDonnell and wish her a happy 80th birthday with many 2-5 happy returns; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-7 as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 12, 1995. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
