No. 1044 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to 1-3 recognize the opening of a national Customer Service Center in 1-4 Irving for Medco Containment Services, Incorporated, which has 1-5 been in operation since February 13, 1995; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The excellent facility, which presently handles 1-7 40,000 calls weekly, anticipates handling over 100,000 calls per 1-8 week servicing a cross section of Medco's national accounts; by the 1-9 end of 1995, the site will employ 450 service representatives, 100 1-10 administrative and management personnel, and 18 to 24 pharmacists 1-11 who are licensed by the State of Texas to provide professional 1-12 counseling to patients using Medco's prescription benefit plans; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, Medco Containment Services, Incorporated, is the 1-15 nation's leading provider of prescription drug benefit plans and 1-16 has pioneered the business of managing prescription drug care; 1-17 the new national Customer Service Center in Irving reflects the 1-18 company's strong commitment to the delivery of quality service to 1-19 the thousands of patients eligible to participate in one of its 1-20 programs; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Medco manages prescription drug care through 1-22 National Rx Services, Incorporated, and PAID Prescriptions, 1-23 Incorporated; it helps corporations, government, union benefit 2-1 sponsors, and insurance companies control costs while improving 2-2 the quality of prescription drug care; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, The Teacher 2-4 Retirement System of Texas, and Exxon are three of the major 2-5 organizations using Medco's services which provides drug care for 2-6 one in seven Americans; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 74th Legislature, hereby commend Medco Containment Services, 2-9 Incorporated, for its dedication to providing excellent 2-10 prescription drug care while controlling costs to its patients; 2-11 and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-13 national Customer Service Center in Irving as an expression of the 2-14 appreciation and high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on May 12, 1995. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
