No. 1058 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Virginia Johnson 1-5 WHEREAS, The passing of Virginia Johnson of Houston on 1-6 May 28, 1994, at the age of 65, after a courageous 13-year battle 1-7 with breast cancer, has brought a great loss to the family and many 1-8 friends of this beloved wife, mother, and grandmother; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born Mary Virginia McAllister in Burkburnett, Texas, 1-10 on October 23, 1928, she was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School 1-11 of Houston; she married Robert Emmett Johnson at The Second Baptist 1-12 Church of Houston on November 19, 1955; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Virginia Johnson was a devoted wife who enjoyed a 1-14 successful marriage of 38 years with her loving husband, Bob; she 1-15 took pride in being a full-time wife and mother and in being a best 1-16 friend to her two children, Diane and Bruce; she was also the 1-17 loving grandmother, "Mimi," to her six grandchildren; and 1-18 WHEREAS, She was the definition of a true Texas lady and was 1-19 involved in many politically conservative causes that helped to 1-20 make the State of Texas and our nation better places in which 1-21 to live; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Virginia Johnson was a devoted Christian and a member 1-23 of Gethsemane United Methodist Church for the last 30 years; her 2-1 compassion, wisdom, and eternally optimistic view of life will be 2-2 greatly missed by all who knew her; and 2-3 WHEREAS, The life of Virginia Johnson will continue to live on 2-4 in the hearts and souls of the many people whose lives she touched 2-5 during her time on this earth; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the 2-8 bereaved family of Virginia Johnson: her husband, Bob Johnson of 2-9 Houston, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jack Crews 2-10 of Temple, Texas, and their five children, Andrew, Courtney, Amanda, 2-11 Rebecca, and Clay; and her son, Bruce Johnson of Lake Travis, Texas, 2-12 and his daughter, Kaely; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-14 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 2-15 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in 2-16 memory of Mary Virginia Johnson. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 President of the Senate 2-19 I hereby certify that the above 2-20 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-21 on May 12, 1995, by a rising vote. 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Secretary of the Senate 2-24 ______________________________________ 2-25 Member, Texas Senate
