    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the Texas
    1-3  State University System Board of Regents and Angelo State University
    1-4  in honoring the memory of the late Angelo State University President
    1-5  Lloyd Drexell Vincent; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Lloyd Drexell Vincent served with great distinction
    1-7  as President of Angelo State University for over 27 years, overseeing
    1-8  the building of one of the state's most beautiful and efficient
    1-9  college campuses and earning him the distinction of "Dean" of the
   1-10  Council of Presidents of Public Senior Colleges and Universities of
   1-11  Texas; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, His service to higher education spanned over 42 years,
   1-13  enriching the lives of thousands of students and colleagues; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Through his chairmanships of the Board of Directors
   1-15  of the Texas International Education Consortium, Incorporated,
   1-16  and the United States Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps
   1-17  National Advisory Committee, and his leadership roles on the
   1-18  National Collegiate Athletic Association Presidents Commission,
   1-19  the Board of Visitors to Air University, and the Texas Higher
   1-20  Education Coordinating Board's Formula Advisory Committee, he
   1-21  helped establish vital policies and procedures for the success
   1-22  of those institutions and the constituents they served; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Lloyd Drexell Vincent's lifetime was spent in
    2-1  service to his fellow citizens, state, and country; he served
    2-2  in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as
    2-3  a second lieutenant, as a research scientist with the Texas
    2-4  Nuclear Corporation, as a teacher at Texas A&M University,
    2-5  Sam Houston State University, and Angelo State University,
    2-6  and as an administrator at Sam Houston State University and
    2-7  Angelo State University; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-9  74th Legislature, hereby applaud the naming of the Nursing-Physical
   2-10  Science Building at Angelo State University in memory of this great
   2-11  Texas educator and his dedicated and loving wife, Johnell; and, be
   2-12  it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas hereby extend
   2-14  its gratitude to the family of Lloyd Drexell Vincent:  his wife,
   2-15  Johnell; his son and daughter-in-law, Drex and Nancy Vincent; his
   2-16  daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and George Harrison; and his six
   2-17  grandchildren for sharing him with us.
