No. 1072 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 In Memory 1-3 of 1-4 Deborah Patterson Liesman 1-5 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the 1-6 citizens of Paris and Brookston in mourning the untimely loss 1-7 of Deborah Patterson Liesman who died January 29, 1995, at the 1-8 age of 38; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Born May 16, 1956, Deborah Patterson was the second of 1-10 four children of Doris Patterson and Representative Pete Patterson; 1-11 she attended West Lamar School where she was an excellent student 1-12 and was elected Class Favorite her senior year; she married 1-13 Mike Liesman on June 8, 1974, and the couple was blessed with two 1-14 children, Chad and Rebecca; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Deborah worked in the office of Campbell Soup Company 1-16 until her daughter became ill; she then opened the Care-A-Lot Day 1-17 Care Center in her own home in order to care for her child; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Beloved and respected by all who knew her, Deborah 1-19 was dedicated to her work as a homemaker, wife, and mother, and 1-20 she was devoted to the children at her day care center; and 1-21 WHEREAS, A source of strength and joy to others, Deborah 1-22 lived her life to the fullest, rich in friendships, love, and 1-23 cherished experiences; and 2-1 WHEREAS, After discovering that she was seriously ill, 2-2 Deborah continued to celebrate life and was determined that even 2-3 her funeral be a celebratory service and a tribute to the Lord; 2-4 and 2-5 WHEREAS, Remarkably courageous and inspiring, Deborah was 2-6 an exemplary young woman whose valor in the face of her illness 2-7 touched the lives of many; and 2-8 WHEREAS, An honest, generous, and compassionate individual, 2-9 she gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, warmth, 2-10 and enthusiasm will not be forgotten; and 2-11 WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Deborah Liesman was a member of 2-12 Highway Christian Center Church where she was a Sunday school 2-13 teacher and conducted the children's church services; and 2-14 WHEREAS, Deborah Liesman was a devoted wife and mother, and 2-15 she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by her 2-16 family and many friends; now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-18 74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved 2-19 family of Deborah Patterson Liesman: her husband, Mike Liesman; her 2-20 son, Chad Liesman; her daughter, Rebecca Liesman; her parents, 2-21 Representative Pete Patterson and Doris Patterson; and her brothers, 2-22 Lynn Patterson, Gary Patterson, and Darrell Patterson; and, be it 2-23 further 2-24 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-25 members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the 3-1 Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so 3-2 in memory of Deborah Liesman. 3-3 ______________________________________ 3-4 President of the Senate 3-5 I hereby certify that the above 3-6 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 3-7 on May 15, 1995, by a rising vote. 3-8 ______________________________________ 3-9 Secretary of the Senate 3-10 ______________________________________ 3-11 Member, Texas Senate
