No. 1075 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes great pride 1-3 in recognizing May 15 through 19, 1995, as Texas Law Officers Week; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Exemplary individuals of courage and high moral 1-6 principles, the law enforcement officers of Texas dedicate their 1-7 lives to making the streets of our communities safer places in 1-8 which to live, work, and raise our families; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The legacy of the Texas lawman began with a small 1-10 band of men hired by Stephen F. Austin to provide protection for 1-11 the early settlers; these renowned Texas Rangers set the stage 1-12 for the standards of excellence that members of our police 1-13 departments and sheriffs departments across the state continue 1-14 to uphold today; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Our law officers are exceptional men and women who 1-16 deal daily with the unique challenges of law enforcement duty and 1-17 who face countless dangerous situations in their efforts to 1-18 provide protection for the citizens of Texas; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Texas Law Officers Week provides an opportunity for 1-20 all Texans to express appreciation for the innumerable contributions 1-21 of law enforcement officers to our state and to honor the memory of 1-22 those officers whose lives were lost in the line of duty; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 74th Legislature, hereby declare May 15 through 19, 1995, as Texas 2-3 Law Officers Week and commend the law officers of our state for their 2-4 outstanding service; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the above 2-10 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-11 on May 17, 1995. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
