    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
    1-3  congratulate Paula Ortiz of Austin who is graduating this spring
    1-4  from The University of Texas at Austin; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, An outstanding student, Paula graduated from
    1-6  Crockett High School in 1990 where she placed in the top 10
    1-7  percent of her class each year for four years; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, A well-rounded individual, Paula participated in
    1-9  many organizations in high school including Future Farmers of
   1-10  America, the National Honor Society, and the Cougar Band; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Paula has the added distinction of being the first
   1-12  in her family to graduate from a four-year accredited university;
   1-13  during her freshman year she was a member of the Freshman Honor
   1-14  Society; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Upon her graduation from The University of Texas
   1-16  at Austin, Paula will hold both bachelor's and master's degrees
   1-17  in the field of professional public accounting; her future plans
   1-18  include attaining her goal of being recognized by the Board of
   1-19  Certified Public Accountants; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, This bright young woman has worked diligently to
   1-21  obtain her degrees and has availed herself of every opportunity
   1-22  to learn and be a part of the accounting field in all its various
   1-23  aspects; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Many promising opportunities abound for this
    2-2  enterprising graduate whose accomplishments are truly worthy of
    2-3  legislative recognition; her parents, Mary Lou and Jesse Ortiz, and
    2-4  her sisters, Diana and Connie, are understandably proud of Paula
    2-5  and all she has achieved; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations and best wishes
    2-8  for continued success to Paula Ortiz as she looks forward to her
    2-9  future; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-11  as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate.
