    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in
    1-3  recognizing Marvin Tate who is retiring from public office after
    1-4  10 years of loyal service as Mayor of the City of Bryan; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Marvin Tate joined the Bryan City Council in 1983
    1-6  and was elected to his first two-year term as mayor in 1985; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, A resourceful and dedicated public servant,
    1-8  Mayor Tate served the City of Bryan with honesty, sincerity, and
    1-9  insight, and his contributions to its citizens have been invaluable;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, During his tenure, he fostered a spirit of
   1-12  partnership between the City of Bryan and the Bryan Independent
   1-13  School District, the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce,
   1-14  and Texas A&M University; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Under his guidance, the City of Bryan experienced
   1-16  growth and prosperity, and his outstanding years of service had
   1-17  a positive impact on people throughout the Brazos Valley; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, An esteemed leader in the Bryan-College Station
   1-19  community, Marvin Tate is currently serving on the Board of
   1-20  Directors for the Texas Municipal Power Agency, the Brazos Animal
   1-21  Shelter, and the Metropolitan Planning Organization; he is chairman
   1-22  of the Bryan-College Station Small Business Development System; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,
    2-1  Marvin Tate has given generously of his time and energy to the
    2-2  citizens of Bryan and to the betterment of the community, and his
    2-3  presence in the office of mayor will be greatly missed; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Marvin Tate for his many
    2-7  accomplishments as Mayor of the City of Bryan and extend best
    2-8  wishes to him for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-10  him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
