    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council has chosen five
    1-3  women from the Brazos Valley as 1995 Women of Distinction for their
    1-4  personal achievements and for the splendid examples they have set
    1-5  as role models for girls; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Deeply involved in the life of their communities,
    1-7  these exceptional women are active in education, the arts, health
    1-8  care, and various other areas; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The five outstanding women are leaders in their
   1-10  communities who have learned the importance of service to others
   1-11  through their contributions to making their towns better places
   1-12  in which to live; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Susan Birdwell, Lynn McIlhaney, Elizabeth Smith,
   1-14  Mell Pruitt, and Anne Black were honored by the Bluebonnet Girl
   1-15  Scout Council at a banquet on the campus of Baylor University
   1-16  on May 4, 1995; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Anne Black is the executive director of MSC-OPAS at
   1-18  Texas A&M University and is a member of the Bryan-College Station
   1-19  Diplomatic Corps; she volunteers her time to Mary Branch Elementary
   1-20  School, Festifall, and Saint Joseph's Hospital Foundation Brazos
   1-21  Bash and is the recipient of the 1993 KAMU Volunteer of the Year
   1-22  award; Girl Scouts have played an important role in her life, first
   1-23  as a Girl Scout and then as a leader of her daughters' Brownie and
    2-1  Cadet troops; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, This dynamic individual has earned the respect
    2-3  and admiration of the citizens of Bryan and College Station by
    2-4  her meritorious work and exemplary devotion to her community;
    2-5  now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-7  74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Anne Black
    2-8  on her selection as a 1995 Woman of Distinction and express its
    2-9  appreciation to her for her invaluable service to Bryan and
   2-10  College Station; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-12  Anne Black as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate.
