    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                        Keri Marie Kruse Gavit
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas noted with sadness
    1-6  the passing of a native daughter, Keri Marie Kruse Gavit, who died
    1-7  on March 1, 1995, at the age of 38; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Keri Kruse Gavit was born on January 2, 1957, in
    1-9  Taylor, Texas; she was warm-hearted, sincere, and charming, and
   1-10  her notable talents became apparent early in her youth; at school
   1-11  in Hutto, she was an outstanding athlete and leader, winning honors
   1-12  in basketball and other sports, while also being elected president
   1-13  of the Student Council, Future Farmers of America sweetheart, and
   1-14  homecoming queen; in her senior year she was also awarded the Good
   1-15  Citizenship Award; after her graduation in 1974, Keri then went on
   1-16  to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Ray Gavit, were married
   1-18  on December 11, 1976, and Keri's talents continued to enrich the
   1-19  lives of others as she devoted herself to her chosen role of wife
   1-20  and mother to their four children; she served as room mother in
   1-21  all of her children's schools; she and Ray were president of the
   1-22  Parent-Teachers Association at Robertson Elementary and of the
   1-23  Athletic Booster Club at C. D. Fulkes Middle School; she edited
    2-1  the yearbook at Gattis Elementary School and joined the children
    2-2  on field trips as well as volunteering at countless other occasions;
    2-3  and
    2-4        WHEREAS, A devoted Lutheran, she taught Sunday School, served
    2-5  as Sunday School Superintendent, and worked in the Women's Group
    2-6  and in the Pre-School Program at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in
    2-7  Round Rock; when she became ill, the whole community was filled
    2-8  with an outpouring of care and support to give back to her a part
    2-9  of what this lovely person had given so freely to others during her
   2-10  short life; she will always be cherished in the memories of her
   2-11  family and friends; now, therefore, be it
   2-12        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-13  74th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to her
   2-14  family:  her husband, Raymond O. Gavit; her children, Kamara Gavit,
   2-15  Kristina Gavit, Kevin Gavit, and Kyle Gavit; her parents,
   2-16  Frank E. Kruse and Bessie Lee Kruse; her brothers, David Kruse and
   2-17  Michael Kruse; her nephews, Adam Kruse and Brandon Kruse; and her
   2-18  aunt and uncle, Marilyn Morgan and Edward Morgan; and, be it
   2-19  further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-21  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-22  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-23  Keri Marie Kruse Gavit.
