    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council has chosen five
    1-3  women from the Brazos Valley as 1995 Women of Distinction for their
    1-4  personal achievements and for the splendid examples they have set
    1-5  as role models for girls; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Deeply involved in the life of their communities,
    1-7  these exceptional women are active in education, the arts, health
    1-8  care, and various other areas; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, These five outstanding women are leaders in their
   1-10  communities who have learned the importance of service to others
   1-11  through their contributions to making their towns better places in
   1-12  which to live; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Susan Birdwell, Lynn McIlhaney, Elizabeth Smith,
   1-14  Mell Pruitt, and Anne Black were honored by the Bluebonnet Girl
   1-15  Scout Council at a banquet on the campus of Baylor University on
   1-16  May 4, 1995; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Susan Birdwell is presently serving a second term
   1-18  with the Bryan High School Parent-Teacher Student Organization and
   1-19  has been involved with youth in a number of roles; she has been a
   1-20  Sunday school teacher, Brownie Girl Scout leader, volunteer in the
   1-21  public schools, and Chairwoman of the Brazos Valley Symphony Belles;
   1-22  she is past president of the Junior League of Bryan-College Station,
   1-23  Bryan Woman's Club, and Zeta Tau Alpha Alumni; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, This dynamic individual has earned the respect and
    2-2  admiration of the citizens of Bryan and College Station by her
    2-3  meritorious work and exemplary devotion to her community; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-6  74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Susan Birdwell
    2-7  on her selection as a 1995 Woman of Distinction and express its
    2-8  appreciation to her for her invaluable service to Bryan and
    2-9  College Station; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
   2-11  Susan Birdwell as an expression of the high regard of the
   2-12  Texas Senate.
