No. 1093 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, The Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council has chosen five 1-3 women from the Brazos Valley as 1995 Women of Distinction for their 1-4 personal achievements and for the splendid examples they have set 1-5 as role models for girls; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Deeply involved in the life of their communities, 1-7 these exceptional women are active in education, the arts, health 1-8 care, and various other areas; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The five outstanding women are leaders in their 1-10 communities who have learned the importance of service to others 1-11 through their contributions to making their towns better places in 1-12 which to live; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Susan Birdwell, Lynn McIlhaney, Elizabeth Smith, 1-14 Mell Pruitt, and Anne Black were honored by the Bluebonnet Girl 1-15 Scout Council at a banquet on the campus of Baylor University on 1-16 May 4, 1995; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Mell Pruitt is a retired school counselor who has 1-18 been president of the Bethune Women's Club for 28 years; she has 1-19 served on the board of directors of the Brazos Valley United Way, 1-20 the Bryan Library, Saint Joseph Hospital and Health Center, and 1-21 the Brazos Valley Mental Health Association; she was named 1-22 Outstanding Woman of Brazos County in 1993; and 1-23 WHEREAS, This dynamic individual has earned the respect and 2-1 admiration of the citizens of Bryan and College Station by her 2-2 meritorious work and exemplary devotion to her community; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-5 74th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Mell Pruitt 2-6 on her selection as a 1995 Woman of Distinction and express its 2-7 appreciation to her for her invaluable service to Bryan and 2-8 College Station; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-10 Mell Pruitt as an expression of the high regard of the 2-11 Texas Senate. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on May 16, 1995. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
