No. 1111 1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION 1-2 WHEREAS, It is with immense pride and sorrow that the 1-3 United States of America observe May 30, 1995, as the special day 1-4 on which we commemorate the bravery, the sacrifice, and the loss of 1-5 our country's honored dead: the men and women in the Armed Services 1-6 who gave their lives that we might live in liberty; and 1-7 WHEREAS, On Memorial Day, we bring flowers, the universal 1-8 symbol of life's hope, beauty, transience, and promise of eternity, 1-9 to the cemeteries and graves of the war dead, and the national flag 1-10 is displayed as a fitting testimonial of respect for those who fell; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Whether young or mature, of high rank or low, 1-13 whether laid to rest in mighty vaults in great places or in the 1-14 family's simple country plot, these men and women are our fathers, 1-15 our sons, our brothers, our daughters and sisters, our dearest 1-16 companions, who gave their all; and 1-17 WHEREAS, It is particularly fitting that as we near the 1-18 close of the most devastating century in history, and still the 1-19 world is ravaged by senseless wars and tyrannies, that we should 1-20 offer particular gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives to 1-21 keep us from harm's way; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The people of Pecos County are especially steadfast 1-23 in their remembrance and solemn celebration of these heroes' honor 2-1 and valor; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 74th Legislature, hereby designate May 30, 1995, as Memorial Day 2-4 in Pecos County; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-6 people of Pecos County as a memento of this special occasion. 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the above 2-10 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-11 on May 19, 1995. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
