    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2                               In Memory
    1-3                                  of
    1-4                       Albena Kocurek Fitzgerald
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the friends
    1-6  and family of Albena "Bena" Kocurek Fitzgerald in mourning the
    1-7  death of this beloved citizen of Oklahoma City, formerly of
    1-8  Caldwell, who died May 3, 1995, at the age of 86; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Mrs. Fitzgerald was born May 31, 1908, in Dime Box;
   1-10  a woman of unquestioned integrity and ability, she found her
   1-11  vocation in education; having earned her master's degree at a time
   1-12  when very few women went on to post-graduate study, she taught
   1-13  elementary school for 42 years, retiring in 1973; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Ever trusting in God, Mrs. Fitzgerald was active in
   1-15  the Baptist faith, and in addition to her daily teaching, she took
   1-16  the additional time to teach Sunday school at the Baptist Church
   1-17  in Caldwell for more than 30 years; she also found room in her
   1-18  busy life to support the Texas Retired Teacher's Association,
   1-19  Delta Kappa Gamma, the Eastern Star, and the Burleson Memorial
   1-20  Hospital Ladies Auxiliary; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, In recognition of her unceasing assistance to
   1-22  others, she was awarded a citation from the American Association
   1-23  of Retired Persons for outstanding service to the community; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Noted for her thoughtfulness, kindness, and
    2-2  compassion, Mrs. Fitzgerald never complained of difficulties, but
    2-3  brought happiness to all, and she won a unique place in the hearts
    2-4  of everyone who knew her; and
    2-5        WHEREAS, In her selfless devotion to family, Mrs. Fitzgerald
    2-6  provided a positive and inspiring influence in the lives of
    2-7  countless people, and she will be greatly missed; now, therefore,
    2-8  be it
    2-9        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-10  74th Legislature, hereby express sincere condolences to her
   2-11  family:  her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Allen and Tim Allen;
   2-12  her sister, Emily Schoppe; her brother, Willie Kocurek; and her
   2-13  three grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, and three
   2-14  great-grandchildren; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-16  family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate,
   2-17  and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-18  Albena "Bena" Kocurek Fitzgerald.
