    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, Valaree Bailey-Hathaway of Mexia was recently
    1-3  honored with the Excellence in Community Service Award by the
    1-4  Jonathan Hardin Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the
    1-5  American Revolution; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The annual award was presented to Valaree in
    1-7  grateful recognition of her many contributions to her community;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A devoted wife and mother, Valaree has been a
   1-10  police officer for 17 years and has worked diligently to improve
   1-11  the quality of life in Mexia for all its citizens; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, She was instrumental in initiating the DARE program
   1-13  in the Mexia schools and is starting Life House, a Christian drug
   1-14  and alcohol rehabilitation center; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, As a police officer, Valaree is aware of community
   1-16  problems that affect all of society; she is an active member of the
   1-17  Limestone County Domestic Violence Coalition, Limestone County 4-H
   1-18  Extension Committee, and the Landmark Baptist Church; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Highly regarded among the citizens of Mexia,
   1-20  Mrs. Bailey-Hathaway was named Woman of the Year in 1991 by the
   1-21  Business and Professional Women's Club and Mrs. Mexia International
   1-22  for 1995; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, For her strong beliefs in Christian morals and
    2-1  family values and for her commitment to professional and community
    2-2  stewardship, Valaree has been recognized by the Habitat for
    2-3  Humanity; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, Valaree Bailey-Hathaway is a sterling example of
    2-5  what one individual can do to make a difference in the community;
    2-6  now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
    2-8  74th Legislature, hereby commend Valaree Bailey-Hathaway for her
    2-9  exceptional accomplishments and extend best wishes to her for
   2-10  continued success in her future endeavors; and, be it further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to her
   2-12  as an expression of the gratitude and esteem of the Texas Senate.
