    1-1                           SENATE RESOLUTION
    1-2        WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased and
    1-3  proud to recognize Victoria Hunter Baldwin of Austin on the
    1-4  momentous occasion of her being appointed "Principal in Residence"
    1-5  for the United States Department of Education by Secretary of
    1-6  Education Richard W. Riley; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, In her new position, she will provide a
    1-8  practitioner's viewpoint within the department and be a contact
    1-9  for principals across the country; she will report to Deputy
   1-10  Secretary of Education Madeleine Kunin; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Victoria Hunter Baldwin will serve as a liaison to
   1-12  America's principals as well as contribute her ideas on what works
   1-13  in education from the point of view of a successful principal; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Vicki Baldwin will help the department stay informed
   1-15  on the issues affecting the leaders of the nation's schools; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Principal of Fulmore Middle School since 1986,
   1-17  this outstanding public servant was named the 1992 "Middle School
   1-18  Principal of the Year" by the Texas Association of Secondary
   1-19  School Principals; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, She was also the 1987 "A+ Principal of the Year" for
   1-21  Austin's Adopt-a-School program; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Her school, Fulmore Middle School, was chosen in the
   1-23  spring of 1991 as a recipient of the "Governor's Excellence Award
    2-1  for Dropout Prevention"; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, Always willing to give of her time and energy for
    2-3  a worthy cause, she has been been a member of the Texas Juvenile
    2-4  Probation Commission since 1985; she also chaired the Texas Study
    2-5  Committee of the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals
    2-6  from 1990 through 1994; and
    2-7        WHEREAS, In 1993 she served as a member of the Violence and
    2-8  Schools Joint Task Force of the State Board of Education and the
    2-9  Texas Juvenile Probation Commission; Vicki Baldwin is certainly
   2-10  worthy of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-11        RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
   2-12  74th Legislature, hereby congratulate Victoria Hunter Baldwin
   2-13  on her recent appointment as "Principal in Residence" by the
   2-14  United States Secretary of Education and wish her great success
   2-15  in her new role; and, be it further
   2-16        RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
   2-17  as an expression of the high esteem of the Texas Senate.
